Balsamic-Bacon Marmalade Burger

Pairs well with:

Merlot

Get cozy and get pouring. Our Merlot is the wine for long weekends and lengthy chats.

This recipe uses all of my husband’s favorite ingredients- balsamic vinegar, bacon, vidalia onions…and of course beef!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lb ground beef- lean
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 egg
1 1/2 lb lamb bacon, diced
1 Vidalia onion, diced
1 C balsamic vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C bleu cheese crumbles
6 hamburger buns

Instructions:

Make burger patties by thoroughly mixing the ground beef, salt, pepper, and egg (mix by hand). Grill on medium heat for about 6 minutes on each side. Let rest 2 minutes before serving.

While beef is cooking, make the marmalade. Dice the lamb bacon & onion into small pieces, cook in a sautee pan over medium-high heat (about 3-4 minutes). Once they have cooked & gotten some color, pour in the balsamic vinegar & season with salt. Let it reduce until almost syrupy, approximately 6 minutes. Pour entire mixture into a food processor & pulse until it is transformed into a marmalade texture.

Spread the marmalade over the burgers & serve in buns. Sprinkle the bleu cheese crumbles over the marmalade.

Bon appetit!
