Al's Famous Burgers

Savory burgers have a unique sweet yet slightly pungent taste and hold the barbecued flavor. This has always been my family's favorite. Guests always request the recipe.


3 pounds 90% lean beef
1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
3/4 cup Original Barbecue Sauce
3/4 cup honey
3 eggs
3 slices of white bread


1- Place meat in large mixing bowl 2- Combine honey and barbecue sauce, pour one cup of mixture over the meat (serve the remainder with the meal). 3- Mix sauce and meat thoroughly while adding breadcrumbs. 4- Moisten bread and crumble into mixture 5- Crack eggs into a small bowl and mix. Add to mixture. If mixture is too "moist" add a little more bread crumbs. 6- Form mixture into 12 patties. Freeze. 7- Defrost patties slightly and place on barbecue on medium high about seven minutes each side. Serve with reseved sauce.


I freeze the burgers because they are easier to manipulate on the grill without breaking. Remember to seperate the patties with freezer paper saran wrap.
