Roasted Pecan Sirloin Burgers
Every Fall Georgia is known for it’s outstanding pecan crop. Back in college, my roommate had several pecan trees at home. He would bring bags of pecans back to school. We would oven roast the pecans and use them in any number of delicious recipes. A favorite was the roasted pecan sirloin burger.
For the roasted pecans.
A quarter pound of fresh whole pecans.
One tablespoon (tbs.) of butter.
One tbs. of A-1 sauce.
Twenty drops of Louisiana Hot sauce.
One teaspoon (tea.) of garlic powder.
One tea. of Worcestershire’s sauce.
For the burgers.
Two pounds fresh lean ground sirloin.
One tbs. of Worcestershire’s sauce.
One tea. of garlic powder.
One tea. of onion powder.
A pinch of salt and pepper.
For the grill.
Use a rag soaked in olive oil to drag across the grill.
For the Bun.
Twelve fresh homemade or store bought pecan waffles, warm on the grill.Waffles should remain soft and chewy.
Six tea A-1 sauce.
Roast a quarter pound of pecans in the oven or in a pan over the grill. Add a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of A-1 sauce, a teaspoon of Worcestershire’s sauce, twenty drops of Louisiana hot sauce and a teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir and roast pecans until seasoning sticks and pecans are slightly browned. Remove from heat to cool.
Place two pounds of lean ground sirloin beef steak into a mixing bowl. Crumble half the pecans into pieces to mix with the sirloin. Add a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. A teaspoon of garlic powder, a teaspoon of onion powder, a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well. Then form the mixture into six patties.
Use olive oil to season the grill. Cook at medium heat for four minutes on each side
Place cooked patties onto pre warmed store bought or home made pecan waffles. Spread a teaspoon of A-1 sauce onto the top of each burger. Add a few of the remaining pecans on top too.
Place a pecan waffle as the top bun .
Cut in half and serve warm.
