Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
This burger combines two of america’s favorite comfort foods the hamburger and Mac and Cheese.
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1/2 of a 15 oz. can of mac and cheese, approx 1 cup.
1/4 cup of finely chopped onion. In the northwest choose a Walla Walla onion, but any local sweeter onion will work.
1 large dollop of catsup
1 1/4″ thick 2′ triangle of sharp cheddar cheese. In the northwest we use Tillamook Cheddar.
Bottom half of a Large traditional white buns.
In a mixing bowl mix thoroughly: The ground beef, the 1/2 of can
of macaroni and cheese and the onion.
Heat grill to medium hot temp. Oil the grill to avoid sticking.
Form 6 to 8 half inch thick patties.
Grill patties approx 5 minutes on the first side. Burger must be firm in order to flip the burger. Cook on second side for another five minutes until browned.
Squirt a nice dollop of catsup on the burger. Place the triangle of cheese on top. Turn off the BBQ griill and close the lid. Enjoy one can of your favorite American beer. approx 5 minutes. Remove burger with melted cheese and place on a Bun, open face.
Variation: Toast the half bun. Bon Appetite!
